Freckles – Causes, Symptoms & Remedy

leave a comment

Freckles are flat, small spots of melanin on the skin, develop randomly, and can be caused by too much sunlight. Both men and women get freckles at an equal rate. Freckles are most commonly found on the face, although they may appear on any skin exposed to the sun

Causes of Freckles:
Being over exposed to the sun. Freckles will fade when sun exposure is reduced or eliminated.

  • Special cells in the skin produce a pigment called melanin that is concentrated at one spot.
  • Freckles are also genetic.
  • Abnormal Hormones can cause freckles.
  • Fair skin absorbs less UV rays so special cells in the skin produce melanin in concentrated areas.

Symptoms for Freckles:
Some symptoms associated with freckles are:

  • Changing of the skin’s shape and color.
  • Diarrhea.
  • Cramping, abdominal pain, or loss of weight.
  • Skin cancer can come from freckles.
  • Moles.
  • Blood or mucus in fecal matter.

Remedies for Freckles:

  • Bleaching Creams: Using hydroquinone acid is one of the best treatments for freckles.
  • Cryosurgery: This freezes the freckles with liquid
  • Chemical Peels: Using this treatment will remove aging spots, freckles, and fine lines.
  • Intense Pulsed Light Therapy (IPL): IPL is the newest treatments found today. What IPL does is it shoots energy to both the epidermis and dermis; as a result the freckles fade away in a treatment or two.
  • Tretinoin: Vitamin A helps make freckles appear lighter when used over an extended amount of time.
  • Laser Treatment: Laser treatment can be effective but also very expensive.

Applying cosmetic products on sensitive skin

leave a comment

I have a sensitive skin. How can I effectively apply cosmetic products on my face?

Sensitive skin is still a mystery with scientists and doctors alike as to why some skin react differently to extreme temperature, sun, fragrance, wind or alcohol. Due to action of these symptoms like violent itching, rashes, excessive dryness, rashes, watery eyes could occur.

Women with blue eyes, fair complexion, light or red hair are more likely to have sensitive skin. Women with this type of skin should use hypoallergenic range of skin care products and minimize the use of chemical based cosmetics.

Sensitive skin ages faster: When skin (sensitive skin) gets irritated too often, it becomes weak and fails to perform its function of being a protective layer. Irritants enter into the skin as and moisture of the skin is lost. Lack of protection from environmental pollution leads to the breakdown of collagen and elastin and invites free radical damage which results in visible wrinkles and skin sag.

How to prevent stretch marks?

leave a comment

preventing stretch marksHow to prevent stretch marks? – Stretch marks are primarily caused by quick increase or decrease in weight due to weight gain or during pregnancy.

Very little could be done to avoid stretch marks during pregnancy. Stretch marks during pregnancy highly depend on hormones. Control on weight gain during pregnancy could help to some extent to minimize the formation of these marks. Some lotions are available in the market, which helps in keeping the skin firm and elastic. Proper presence of vitamins and minerals in your diet could help as these maintain strong connective tissues.

Bad news – You could hardly do anything to get rid of stretch marks once they are formed. Treatment or cosmetics have little to no effect on it. However it could fade with time but do not expect it to disappear completely.
