Brushing long hair properly is an art. To start with, bend forward, allowing hair to fall. Use natural bristle brush with wooden base to bring hair from the nape of the neck over the head and down t the ends. Stand straight again and let the hair fall normally and brush from the underside of the hairline down the strands to the ends. Next, brush the top layers into place with long and even strokes. After each stroke, smoothen the hair with hand to minimize static. Increase the number of strokes every week, beginning with fire and increasing them by one a week till you reach a comfortable level. In case oiliness results, reduce the strokes.
Brush the hair only when it is dry. Hair is at its weakest when it is wet and brushing at that stage could damage it. Even when it is dry, comb it before brushing. The number of strokes depends on the length of the hair. You must remember that the number of strokes is of less significance than the type of brush that you use. To ensure that you brush your hair properly and promote health, you have to use a brush with natural bristles. Brushes containing synthetic bristles or with evenly spaced tines and suitable for disentangling and styling but natural-bristle brushes help in removing dirt and product build-up and help to redistribute excess oil along the hair shaft. Synthetic brushes are not capable of doing that.
