Sunless Tanning - Yes, You Can Have a Great Sunless Tan!

Sunless Tanning SkinMost of us in fact everyone has a sunless tanning horror story. Those wonderful products sitting on the shelves in drugstores and department stores sound so easy to use! So what's the problem?

Luckily, there are some very simple ways to get excellent results from sunless tanning products. The first is one is PREPARE that skin. Use an exfoliation product to slough off all those dead skin cells. The fresh skin underneath allows a sunless tanning product to go on more smoothly and also be absorbed more easily. You'll have far less trouble with streaking and dark patches when you get the dead skin cleared away, trust me.

You want to also make sure that your skin isn't too dry. So after you've exfoliated, you want to apply a good skin lotion or moisturizer. It's usually a good idea to do this for two-three days before using applying the sunless tanning product. Moist skin interacts much better with the lotions and gels made for sunless tanning, so take the time to lotion up before tanning up!

Now, when you're ready to actually apply the sunless tanning product you've chosen, remember to wait at least twenty to thirty minutes after a bath or shower. Wet skin can cause streaks and patches. This also makes it easier to tell if you've missed a spot—or two.

Also, you want to work fast. Sunless tanning gels, creams and sprays tend to dry quickly, so time is of the essence when you want a great sunless tan. Go leg by leg, arm by arm, etc., using an adequate amount to cover the entire area at once before going to another. This makes it far easier to apply a sunless tan product more evenly.

Remember, too, to use your sunless tanning product sparingly on elbows, ankles and knees. These areas tend to be drier than other parts of your body. A light touch will give you great tanning results.

Finally, if the directions tell you not to dress for thirty minutes after applying the sunless tanning lotion, gel or spray, don't! Many sunless tanning experts recommend that you wait two hours, regardless of the directions, so adding fifteen minutes or so to the time in the instructions is a good rule of thumb here. After all, after going to all the effort to get your sunless tan just right, the last thing you want to do is wipe away all your hard work!

Follow these simple steps and you can have the gorgeous, radiant sunless tan you've always wanted. Even better, no one will know you didn't spend hours and hours baking in the hot sun!
